Roo!

So today we sort of surprised ourselves with a new family member today! My mom used to breed and raise Queensland heelers for working with beef cattle, and when I was quite young we had two, but they were old and passed when I was still little. We've been down to one dog for a while, and he's old and unpredictable.

Well, today we checked on Craigslist and saw an ad for Red Heeler pups, just ready to go. We were going to just look at them and see the parents, but we all fell in love with this little girl. She's 8 weeks old, and a beautiful light red color. She'll darken as she ages, but will stay pretty light. Her name is Roo, as in kangaroo (the breed comes from a cross of collies, dalmations, and dingos), and she is just wonderful <3 

I've never had a puppy before and been able to remember it, so this is really a new experience for me!
