...feel the need to beat up on whatever religion/race/sexuality/etc they don't agree with? I'm not whining or anything silly like that...I am asking for an honest answer. I was doing some research on a term that got brought in a conversation, out of curiosity, and found a lot of shit on it. Basically what some people were saying would be the equivalent of me saying to a Christian, "No, you idiot, there is no such thing as a God!" It's their belief, right, and they have the right to believe that, yes?

I'm a bit of an opinionated person, really, but, despite this, I am willing to accept that people might actually have opinions/beliefs differing from mine...now why can't everyone else accept this? Anyone..? Bet you no one can answer :P

Because there's other dicks out there who say so.

They learn from the other and older people, who in turn learn from the ones even older then themselves. It's just something that seems almost like it's bred into humanity.

Different is bad. ;o; Change is bad. ;o;
Or I don't know. They're taught things from an early age and anything that disagrees with the ingrained things they believe to be true is scary and so bad and everyone must agree with you because it makes sense to you because you've never questioned it because you've always known it to be true.

But when what they believe harms a person or group of people, that's not ok. :c There are some beliefs and opinions that are not ok in the culture we live in.

Ah, yes, all very true. I think I tend to empathize too much, I mean, hell, I can find reason to feel bad for Hitler XD

Eh, probably in many cases. But I would never judge someone based on race, sexuality, or religion. In other words...I /try/ to see other's side of the things. I suppose I practice and worship empathy..?

One reason I know of and actually experienced is the need for protection.

My art teacher's daughter is christian, and pretty much aims towards religious fanatism.
She keeps going around how "CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONE AND ONLY RELIGION" and " MAGIC, HARRY POTTER AND ALL THESE THINGS LIKE DAN BROWNS BOOKS ARE KILLING THE MINDS OF PEOPLE AND THEY'RE SATANS WORK JUST BECAUSE THEY MENTION MAGIC AN FANTASY OMF".

The only reason she keeps annoying me with these things is out of protection. Her mother nearly died twice, and somehow she miraculously survived after praying or wtv.
So, she things that only through the christian religion people will be protected. And anyone else of a different opinion is under the threat of being corrupted by satan or whatever.

She sells this shit to all her kids, friends, and apprentices. Including me.
I just nod and listen to her because that's all I can do. I don't bother trying to prove her wrong because that'd be an ass move of me. She's clearly not that bright, and sincerely? All she tries to do is protect me, she loves me. Even though the way she expresses her protection is fanatic and annoying as fuck.

I respect her the way she is, fanatism or not, she's still a loved person of mine.

Yes, I suppose that does make sense. Perhaps then, the root of hate is fear..? (Oh yes, I am getting all philosophical on you)

Yeah. Totally fear.
But not hate, more like the root of the conflict.
It's not hate per-se, at least not by me.
